Alaska Inside Passage Map

Use the map to determine where you'll start your trip: from the north or from the south. All routes lead along the water up the narrow coastline through the communities of Ketchikan, Wrangell, Juneau, Gustavus, Skagway and Haines. We're going to start from the south, coming north.

Day 1: Arrive in Ketchikan. Explore the coast on the water with Southeast Alaska Kayaks!

Day 2: Take a ferry trip on the Interisland Ferry from Ketchikan to Hollis on Prince of Wales Island. This is a great adventure. Please let me know how all about it...since I haven't made it down there yet!

Day 3: Head north to Wrangell, where you can cruise up the Stikine River in a jetboat! This is the fastest navigable stream in North America. Ask about "Garnet Ledge" where they find the semi-precious stones! Also, check out the hot springs. It's a local favorite!

Day 4: Head north to Juneau, Alaska's Capital City. Take off from the airport with LAB Flying Service to Gustavus, home of Glacier Bay National Park.

Day 5. Take the incredible Glacier Bay Tour inside the park. See glaciers, of course. But watch for whales, sea lions, bears (both black and brown), puffins, eagles and lots of other seabirds. There is a National Park Service naturalist on board to answer questions. MUST-SEE!! MUST-SEE!!

Day 6-7: Catch your return flight to Juneau. Make plans to head north to Skagway. Stay at the historic Skagway Inn. While you're in Skagway, visit Jewel Gardens and take a ride on the White Pass and Yukon Route narrow-gauge railway. Learn the history of the Gold Rush!

Day 8: Use the map to plan your next Alaska trip. How about some Alaska fishing? There's delicious salmon, tasty halibut...and plenty of other tasty choices
