Alaska is big...REALLY big. When you're planning your Alaska adventure, leave enough time to get from Point A to Point B! Here are some Alaska travel tips:Day 1: Arrive at your Anchorage Hotel. Spend the day exploring along the Coastal Trail which goes from downtown along the shores of Cook Inlet to the airport. Stroll our beautiful "Town Square" and see the incredible floral displays downtown.
Day 2: Visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center (MUST-SEE!!). Afterwards, visit beautiful Eklutna Lake or hike in the hills surrounding Anchorage in the Chugach National Forest.
Day 3: Head south from Anchorage to the Alaksa Wildlife and Conservation Center and get a close-up view of Alaska wildlife. Bring the camera. Then, go to Portage Glacier and take the Portage Glacier Cruise. Continue down the Seward Highway (an "All American Road"!) and line up another Alaska glacier cruise in Seward. Visit the Alaska SeaLife Center and see Exit Glacier, one of several "drive-up glaciers" in the state.
Day 4: Take the Kenai National Park Cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park. It takes all day, but you'll see plenty of sea birds, sea mammals, glaciers--and everything in between.
Day 5: Head south on the Sterling Highway to Kenai Landing on the Kenai River. Make plans to go charter fishing in Soldotna.
Day 6: Visit Homer, on the shores of Kachemak Bay. Take the Alaska Coastal Marine Tour or the Homer Ocean Charters Tour of the bay!
Day 7: Head back up the highway to Anchorage. Stop at one of our fine restaurants for some grub.
Day 8: Take the Alaska Rail Tour from Anchorage to Denali National Park, in the shadow of Mt. McKinley. Make plans to take the Tundra Wildlife Tour all the way into the park.
Day 9: After you return from your tour in the park, don't miss the "Alaska Cabin Nite" musical review!
Day 10: Relax as you plan more Alaska adventure travel!
